Period-Correct Game and Electronics Props for Georgia Productions

Georgia shoots a lot of film and television, and a surprising amount of it is set in the recent past. The 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s show up constantly on screen, and every one of those scenes needs the small, specific objects that place it in time: the console under the television, the chunky monitor on the desk, the handheld in a kid’s hands, the tangle of cables behind it all.

Why Are Period-Correct Electronics Hard to Source?

The obvious problem is that most of this hardware is thirty or forty years old and increasingly scarce. The subtler problem is dating. A console that looks “old” to a general prop house can be five years too new for the scene, and the revision, color, and packaging all shifted year to year. Every console that comes through our intake is tested and dated as a matter of course, which is exactly the information a production designer needs and rarely gets from a thrift-store find.
