What Is the GameCube PicoBoot Mod?

GameCube games have become astronomically expensive, making physical discs stressful to handle and play. The PicoBoot utilizes a Raspberry Pi Pico micro-controller soldered directly to the GameCube’s motherboard to bypass the original boot sequence and launch the Swiss homebrew utility.

• Preserve Your Lasers & Discs: Boot your legally backed-up library from an SD2SP2 adapter or GC2SD directly through Swiss. Your physical discs can stay safely on the shelf, and your laser gets a permanent vacation.
• Force 480p Output: Swiss allows you to force progressive scan (480p) on games that never officially supported it, making your GameCube look incredibly sharp on modern displays.
• The Installation Reality: While cheaper than an ODE, the PicoBoot requires precise micro-soldering to the GameCube’s IPL chip. Using wires that are too thick or routing them poorly over components will cause boot failures and signal interference.
