Tags Aren't the Whole Story

Original tags are helpful for authentication and dating, but experienced buyers don't rely on them exclusively. Many legitimate vintage pieces have removed, faded, or cut tags - particularly tees that were heavily worn and washed. A missing tag doesn't make a piece fake.

NOSTOS evaluates tagless pieces using the same methods used by serious vintage dealers: fabric weight and feel, stitching type (single vs. double), print method (plastisol vs. discharge), garment construction, screen fading, and sleeve seam position.

What NOSTOS Looks At (No Tag)

• - Fabric weight - pre-1995 tees are typically heavier cotton
• - Single-stitch construction - sleeve seam indicates pre-mid-90s manufacturing
• - Screen print cracking - genuine plastisol ages differently than reprints
• - Collar and hem wear - consistent with actual age, not distressing
• - Cut and proportions - 80s/90s boxy cut is hard to replicate convincingly
• - Graphic content - licensed artwork, tour dates, event references

Fast-fashion "vintage" style pieces, modern reproductions, or anything where provenance can't be established. If a piece looks like a reprint or lacks any period-appropriate construction markers, NOSTOS will pass - regardless of what the seller believes it is.
